DULUTH, GA– The 5-seed Auburn Tigers took the Session I crown of the SEC Gymnastics Championship with an 197.100.
After the first rotation, Mizzou held a slight advantage with a 49.375 beam score led by Helen Hu’s 9.950 and Sienna Schreiber’s 9.900. The SEC Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Cassie Stevens kept Auburn in close range (49. 300) with a 9.950 vault score.
Missouri extended its lead to .250 with electrifying floor routines from Alisa Sheremeta and Jocelyn Moore, that both earned 9.900s.
Going into the final rotation, the winner of Session I was up for grabs. Auburn had moved into first (147.875) with 9.900s on beam from Stevens and Gabby McLaughlin. Missouri sat in second (147.600) following big vault scores from Moore and Amari Celestine. Norah Flatley and Lauren Williams’ 9.900s on floor held Arkansas at third (147.400). Georgia followed narrowly with a 147.375 with well executed uneven bar routines from Haley De Jong (9.900) and Katie Finnegan (9.875).
Derrian Gobourne closed the show with a 9.875 on floor to claim the title for Auburn.
Missouri logged the top uneven bars score (49.400), but it wasn’t enough to overtake Auburn in the final rotation. The Razorbacks closed their final event with the highest vault rotation score (49.425) of Session I as Flatley, Williams, Cami Weaver and Frankie Price logged 9.900s.
